A Message From the President
To members and all neighbors:
I’ve had the pleasure of serving as the Robinson Street Association president since the spring of 2020—when we were still just a few weeks into the COVID-19 pandemic. Back then, I thought that first board meeting over Zoom might be the last. Unfortunately, our initial hopes for a quick recovery fell way to a long-haul crisis.
Our corridor was no exception. We had to scuttle plans for our first annual Garden Party festival, which would have been in May. We also suspended membership dues to give a small reprieve to businesses and residents. And I have no doubts that many of you have been personally affected by this pandemic.
But, over the past year and a half, I have seen remarkable examples of everything that makes our neighborhood one-one-a-kind: restaurants flipping the script to serve patrons safely; healthcare workers at Retreat being heroes 24/7; and folks on the sidewalk quickly and respectfully adapting to social distancing.
Our board and volunteers have also been busy. We’ve continued, as best as possible, our street cleanup efforts. We’ve coordinated with the City on street paving and other infrastructure work to avoid unforeseen impacts on our residents and businesses. And we are also very excited to share our new identity and website with you.
The beautiful new logo and colors now representing the Robinson Street Association are the excellent work of David McIntosh and his team at 903 Creative (404 N Robinson). The fresh website you’re on now is the amazing work of our board member Coldon Martin at SIR (2601 Floyd). Both have donated their very valuable time to make this happen; for that, we are incredibly grateful.
We hope this new brand helps launch our neighborhood into post-pandemic success and vibrancy for everyone. But we can’t do it alone. Please join us in our mission to make Robinson Street everyone’s favorite corridor in the whole city.
Wishing you and all of us the best,
Jonathan Knopf
